A Strange New Nature (for KOSMICA)
The Tycho Supernova Remnant, imaged by NASA’s Chandra Observatory. The supernova was first observed in 1572 by Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. (X-ray: NASA/CXC/RIKEN & GSFC/T. Sato et al; Optical: DSS)
KOSMICA is a space organization developing initiatives that bridge the arts and humanities, the space sector, and society as a whole.
I curated a playlist for their Spotify playlist series. While creating it, I reflected on the strange nature that presents itself off-planet, and how many cosmologies are at play in imagining space today. It is made up of ambient music that conveys my imagination/sense of the true experience of space, and how varied and emotional this can be.
I wrote up some brief thoughts in a Medium post about the multiplicity of perspectives and orientations regarding space travel, and the thought process that went into the curation. You can go directly to the playlist here or play it via the playlist below.
I would love to hear your thoughts on these reflections, and/or the playlist. Please find me @sandsfish on Instagram and let me know how you imagine the experience of life in space to be!
